Our Founding Story

Zoom Books co-founders Vishal Mutti and Manroop Gill met in 2016 while pursuing their Bachelor of Commerce degrees at the University of British Columbia, both specializing in accounting and sustainable business practices. In 2019, while still students, they launched the early version of Zoom Books, sourcing used books from libraries and thrift stores and selling them online straight from their UBC dorm rooms.

Today, Zoom Books operates from two large processing facilities in British Columbia and Ontario and employs a team of over 60+ warehouse and logistics professionals. With a streamlined business model, the company has evolved into Canada’s leading sustainable book recycling enterprise, focused on scale, automation, and environmental impact.
