Vishal and Manroop met in 2016 while pursuing a Bachelors of Commerce degree at the University of British Columbia. They both graduated in 2020 with a specialization in accounting. The concept of Zoom Books Company was formed in 2019 when they began purchasing books from libraries and thrift stores and started selling them online out of their dorm rooms.

Currently, Zoom Books Company employs a full-time warehouse staff of 26 employees and operates out of 3 large warehouses located in Pitt Meadows, Surrey, and Aldergrove.
